Spyware Blaster
1. Start SpywareBlaster (double click on
the SpywareBlaster icon).
2. If the shield at the top of the window is not green click on
Enable all Protection (bottom under Quick Tasks).
3. Click on Download Latest Protection Updates (bottom under Quick
Tasks).
4. Click on Check for Updates button.
5. When downloading is complete, click on Enable Protection for
All Unprotected Items (top left menu).
6. Close SpywareBlaster.
Spybot - Search & Destroy
7. Start Spybot Search & Destroy
(double click on the Spybot Search &
Destroy icon).
8. Click on the Search for Updates button.
9. Change the download location to Safer-Networking #2 (Europe) and click continue.
10. Put a check in all the boxes that need updating (i.e.
Detection Rules).
11. Click on the Download button.
12. When complete, click OK then Exit then click on the Immunize
button (left side).
13. Click on the Immunize button (top menu).
14. When immunization is finished click on the Search &
Destroy button (left side).
15. Click Check for Problems (top menu) to scan your computer.
16. If any spyware is detected, put a check next to ALL the listed
problems.
17. Click on Fix Selected Problems then click on Yes to remove the
entries.
18. If it detects
spyware and cannot remove it, call Computer Medics for a spyware
removal service.
19. Click OK and close Spybot Search
& Destroy.
Ad-Aware
20. Start Ad-Aware (double click on the Ad-Aware icon).
21. Click on the Update button.
22. Accept all available updates. Click on OK for each update
you agreed to.
23. When all updates are finished click on the Scan Now
button.
24. Select either Smart Scan (fastest), or Full Scan (more
thorough).
25. Click the Scan button and wait for scan to finish.
26. Check all objects found on the Critical Objects tab and click
the Remove button.
27. Check all objects found on the Privacy Objects tab and click
the Remove button.
28. If it detects spyware and cannot remove it, call Computer
Medics for a spyware removal service.
29. Click the Finish button.
30. Close Ad-Aware.
